The Story
Born in Brooklyn and raised in a Puerto Rican musical household, James Gabriel Morales built his foundation in church and jazz — a bedrock that has evolved into a globally recognized career at the intersection of artistry, culture, and innovation.
James received a scholarship to study jazz performance as a drummer at Berklee College of Music — but it was there that his path shifted, from jazz musician to producer and songwriter, as he discovered the tools that would come to define his career. While finishing Berklee, Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins — one of the most successful hitmakers in modern R&B and pop — invited him into his camp, turning classroom skill into real studio instinct.
Not just a hitmaker — a creative architect, shaping the sound and strategy behind every artist he works with.
From there, a song deal attached to work with Meghan Trainor and Fifth Harmony — brokered through L.A. Reid, an executive at Epic Records at the time — set things in motion, and led in turn to a songwriting and publishing deal with Sony Music Publishing: the start of a career built less on one hit than on being in the room, again and again, for the artists who needed him there.
As co-founder of THE ELEVEN and Creative House LA, James has shaped the sound and trajectory of iconic artists including Jennifer Lopez and Celine Dion, alongside major commercial forces like Meghan Trainor and Sean Kingston. His catalog spans chart-topping records, major motion pictures, Netflix series, and award-winning television — including "Temperature," his song with TeaMarrr for HBO's Insecure, which earned an NAACP Image Award nomination for Outstanding Soundtrack/Compilation Album — with over one billion streams worldwide.
Beyond the studio, James is a world-class musician and performer — most recently a featured performer with Bad Bunny during the Super Bowl 2026 Halftime Show — bringing a rare duality of live performance excellence and studio precision to every room he's in.
That same instinct for building the right room around an artist led him to open Studio 6, his own hybrid recording, live-performance, and livestream studio in Toluca Lake, Los Angeles — where that year-round work now happens.
At the core of his work is a commitment to creative sovereignty — empowering artists to build sustainable careers while remaining fully expressed in their identity and artistry.

THE ELEVEN
THE ELEVEN is the production and creative company James co-founded with his brother, Matt Morales — a hub for world-class music production, songwriting, and artist development. From chart-topping singles to stadium-ready anthems, THE ELEVEN delivers the sound that defines culture.
With a global roster of collaborators spanning pop, R&B, jazz, electronic, and Latin music, the company operates at the intersection of artistry and industry — crafting records that resonate across genres and around the world, while staying rooted in authentic creative vision. On projects like Stevie Mackey and Take 6's holiday album The Most Wonderful Time, that reach extends to full executive production and creative direction — every song, every featured artist, one vision start to finish.
The work also lives under other names. As CADE — and as CADE x The Xi — he's built official remixes credited on Jennifer Lopez, Enrique Iglesias, and Bazzi, reshaping finished records into something built for the floor. As EMAN8, his own gospel/inspirational hip-hop project, he returns to where it started: the church music and jazz he grew up inside, carried into a different genre. That catalog has been placed in more than 16 TV shows, films, and campaigns — Love Island USA, The Chi, All American, Jersey Shore Family Vacation, a national Popeyes campaign, and more — 31 placements in total.
Artist Development & A&R
James operates as more than a producer — he is a trusted partner in artist development and A&R, playing a key role in identifying, shaping, and scaling talent in today's global music landscape.
He co-wrote and produced Stacey Ryan's breakout hit "Fall in Love Alone," which has surpassed 500 million streams worldwide, and collaborates with platforms like TikTok through SoundOn to help launch and distribute emerging artists at scale.
That same hands-on approach shows up with Sophia James — years of Creative House writing sessions and his own executive production and multi-instrumental musicianship across her album Clockwork — proof the build looks different for every artist, but the process doesn't change.
His A&R work is hands-on: sitting in on the writing, choosing the singles, shaping rollouts, and staying in the room long after the record is finished. From first demo to release strategy, he treats development as a build — not a bet.
